I am new to this forum (and to my new Topfield) so I hope I am not asking something already posted - an apology in advance??

I have just received my new Topfield 6000 PVRt and I am setting it up. I have understood most of the basics by reading through the manual (twice), but I am completely stumped with this whole wireless/USB connecting to PC – (for firmware, ICETV and TAPS etc)
I received a 6 month ICETV trial with my purchase and want to activate it but I believe you have to be 'connected' from PC to Toppy first. My Toppy is in a separate room to my PC (20 metres away)
I have just spent 2 hours reading forum after forum but they all skip past the step by step basics ie "How to make your PC talk to your Toppy- an idiots guide!"

The manual says to use 'Altair' but another site suggests a quicker and easier Toppytools (30 day free trial)
see here: http://members.optusnet.com.au/toppytools/fwtool.html

I have already downloaded the following but not used yet:

1."Topfield Tools Applications and USB Driver Set Up"
2."Toppys Tool Suite" (as already mentioned above)
3.Devcon (helps monitoring USB in Toppy Tools)
4.Altair

can anybody help?

Hi Turbo, I am new as well. However, I first installed Altair to a Vista Notebook (yuck!), connected the 6000 via USB, then installed the ICE NET Loader (on to the 6000) available from the ICETV website. Then I set up the wireless network, you will need a wireless Access Point somewhere. Some other experienced users should be able to supply their set up shortcuts.

Good luck!

Topfield have been very negligent in this area .... leaving things very confusing

what you need is

TopfieldTools ....link ...> TopfieldTools

it has altair in it, among other thing

the altair download on the site is to upgrade the now defunct "topfield windows application" download that had an older version in it
